The website of www.ef.com (Education First) mentions the word "success" as one of the three thousand commonly used words in the English language. I'm sure many of you have come across the word “success” being used by various groups of people from politicians to the shopkeeper near your house. Knowing the word "success" and understanding what it means are two different concepts. A lot of us are aware of the word, but very few of us can understand what real success is. In a fast-changing world of today, many people have wrongly assumed the true meaning of success.

Others also believe that success has financial freedom and wealth. Some people think success is having many numbers of followers on Instagram or Facebook. Having many numbers of followers in social media is one of the illogical reflections of success. The question that you should ask yourself today is, what is the real meaning of success?

www.bussinessdictionary.com defines success as an act of completing a task or achieving a goal. It means that a goal must accompany success. If you want to succeed in any area of your life, the first thing you need to have is a goal. Is having the goal the only tool for you to achieve? The answer is very, obviously no.

James Clear in his book called Atomic Habits, explains the concept of goals and systems. He argues that having a goal only won't make you successful, but having a proper system will make you successful. The difference between a goal and a system is that a goal focuses on the final outcome but the system is the process that leads to the final outcome. No matter how smart you are, if you do not have a plan or a system that will enable you to reach the goals, then achieving the target won't be possible. The difference between those who succeed and those who do is not on setting the goals every January but on creating the system that will make the final outcome to be achieved.

It is good to set the goals if you want to succeed, but it's more important to create a system for your success. For instance, you might place a goal of saving money for your college studies after completing high school. Just having a burning desire to save money for your college studies won't make you save. What will make you save the money is your system, which includes all sets of habits concerning financial discipline and financial literacy, James Clear also gives us warning on focusing too much on goals. It's essential to have goals, but those goals should not limit us from enjoying the process because goals make us win the game of life, but systems or processes keep us playing the game. Have you ever thought about what follows after accomplishing the goal?

The process doesn't end when you have accomplished what you intended to achieve, but rather it continues to make you the better human that can also positively impact the lives of others and help them to reach their goals.

Sundar Pichai, an Indian American technology icon  and CEO of Google, once stated that “It is important to follow your dreams and heart, do something that excites you." Sundar Pichai has another constructive concept of success. He defines success as doing what you love and not loving what you do. A lot of people are suffering from depression and other mental and health problems only because they are doing what they don't like. They are waking up every morning to do something they are not entirely interested in. Apart from having goals and proper systems of achieving them, success means being happy and loving what you do. Recent statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO) have shown that eight hundred thousand people die due to suicide every year because of depression. This indicates that if we want to succeed and enjoy our limited stay on this Earth, then it's essential to focus on doing what makes our lives more valuable and meaningful.
