Head: Safety
Summary
The Head: Safety is responsible for leading the infrastructure safety strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing the implementation and effectiveness of all safety programs, including the Safety Management System (SMS), to maintain a safe and compliant operational environment.
Responsibilities
Safety Strategy and Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of the airport safety strategy aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
Safety Management System (SMS) Oversight: Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS).
Regulatory Compliance Management: Ensure full compliance with aviation safety regulations, standards, and audit requirements
Safety Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate safety risks across all airport operations.
Safety Assurance and Performance Monitoring: Monitor safety performance indicators and ensure continuous improvement of safety outcomes.
Audit and Inspection Oversight: Oversee internal and external safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
Incident and Investigation Management: Ensure proper reporting, investigation, and corrective actions for safety incidents and occurrences.
Safety Culture and Awareness: Promote a strong safety culture through training, awareness programs, and engagement initiatives.
Cross-functional Coordination: Coordinate with all operational and technical departments to ensure safety integration across the airport.
Policy and Procedure Development: Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and standards.
Reporting and Communication: Provide regular safety reports to senior management and regulatory authorities.
Safety Strategy and Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of the airport safety strategy aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
Safety Management System (SMS) Oversight: Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS).
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Safety, Engineering, or related field
- Relevant aviation safety certification (e.g., SMS, ICAO, or equivalent)
- Master’s degree in Aviation Safety, Engineering, or related field is an added advantage
Requirements
Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in aviation safety, including leadership roles
