Life is very mysterious, We are born clueless, and while growing up we go through a lot of experiences. Some are privilege to grow up in a good environment. They grow up shower with Love, care, and support, and raised to be the best version of themselves. But for others, they are raised in challenging environments. An environment in which they were blamed for why you are born.
Fighting for everything from a young age, for food, for clothes, even for a place to sleep. At this point, Life hits you in a different way. You grow up hearing them saying you aren't good enough. You are wasting their money, why aren't you like so and so. At times you wonder why was I born in the first place, and maybe you start giving up on yourself. You have accepted that it's how your life is for you. Unfortunately, this has led to you being bitter, inferior, low self-esteem and you feel like you don't fit in.
If you are born poor, it's not your mistake, but if you die poor, it's your mistake. - Bill Gates, With all you have been through you, are the change.
Yes, it's true, but I don't want to talk about being born poor and dying poor. I want us to talk about being who you are and dying who you are. In this aspect, I mean you as you and not as defined by what people say, The challenges or whatever you have gone through in your past. Yes, your past is a part of you who you are today. It is a part of your life, but ask yourself is this who I am? or I am what people say you are?
3 Questions to ask yourself if you want to be the Change
- Who am I? Firstly before you decide to change you first have to know who you are, ask yourself this question. Know your value, know who you want to be, know what is good for you, and what isn't. Define all this and see yourself as the person you are or you want to be.
- What do I need to be who I am? Second, after knowing who you are, define things needed to be that person. These things can be behaviors, values, activities, or the kind of friends to be around. These things will influence you in becoming you.
- What can I do to be that person? And lastly after identifying what you need to be who you are, now ask yourself what can you do to be that person?. Do you need to change your friendship circle? do you need to create a new habit? what is it that you have to do?
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” - Mahatma Gandhi
To me, these words don't only reflect the change I want to see in the world. They also reflect the change I want to see in myself, In my life. Throughout my life, I have been through a lot of negativity and denial while growing up. But 5years ago I decided to be me, I defined who I am, what I want to be, and what it will take for me to be that person. Then I made a choice to do everything possible to be me.
Here are a few things I changed in my life
- I changed what I listen to.
- What I was watching.
- Who I hang out with.
- What I read.
In general, I can say I changed what I fed my mind, body, and soul with, and life has never been the same. I stopped presenting myself as the inferior, less confident, and will never make it girl that I used to be. I became the change I wanted to be. And Instead of feeling pity for myself. I started learning how to use my pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use me.
As I stop pressing my typer writer on this page, I just want you to inspire you to change. Believe in yourself, and take the courage to be better and work on your personal development. You are great, strong, bold, and courageous.
