A well-established gym and wellness facility is seeking a skilled, reliable and safety-conscious Plumber to install, inspect, maintain and repair plumbing systems across its facilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that water supply, drainage, washrooms, showers and related plumbing systems remain safe, functional and in good condition. The role requires a practical professional who can diagnose problems quickly, complete repairs properly and minimise disruption to members and daily operations.
Responsibilities
Role Purpose
The Plumber will maintain reliable water supply, drainage and sanitation systems throughout the facility. The role involves preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair work, installation and prompt response to plumbing emergencies.
The Plumber will help ensure that washrooms, showers, changing rooms, kitchens, beverage-service areas and other water-dependent facilities remain clean, safe and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
Plumbing Maintenance and Repairs
- Inspect, maintain and repair water supply, drainage and sanitation systems.
- Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, low water pressure, faulty taps, damaged pipes and other plumbing problems.
- Repair or replace pipes, valves, taps, sinks, toilets, showers, drainage fittings and related fixtures.
- Clear blocked drains and identify the underlying cause of recurring drainage problems.
- Check water storage, pumping and distribution systems and report any faults requiring specialist attention.
- Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies to prevent water damage, service disruption and safety risks.
- Test completed repairs to confirm that systems are operating safely and correctly.
Installation Work
- Install pipes, fixtures, valves, taps, sinks, toilets, showers and related plumbing components.
- Support plumbing requirements during facility improvements, renovations or expansion work.
- Read and interpret basic drawings, measurements and installation specifications.
- Ensure installations are properly aligned, sealed, secured and tested.
- Confirm that all plumbing work meets applicable technical, safety and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with other maintenance personnel or contractors where plumbing work affects electrical, structural or mechanical systems.
Preventive Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of washrooms, showers, changing rooms, kitchens and other plumbing service areas.
- Identify early signs of leaks, corrosion, blockages, pressure problems or equipment failure.
- Implement a preventive maintenance schedule for plumbing fixtures and systems.
- Replace worn components before they cause major breakdowns or damage.
- Monitor recurring faults and recommend permanent corrective measures.
- Help reduce unnecessary water consumption by identifying leaks and inefficient fixtures.
Tools, Materials and Stock Control
- Use plumbing tools and equipment safely and correctly.
- Keep tools clean, organised and in good working condition.
- Monitor stocks of commonly used plumbing materials, fittings and spare parts.
- Inform the Gym Manager when materials or replacement parts need to be purchased.
- Verify the quality and quantity of plumbing materials received.
- Use materials responsibly and minimise avoidable waste.
- Maintain records of materials used for significant repairs or installations.
Safety and Worksite Management
- Follow occupational health, safety and hygiene requirements at all times.
- Isolate water supplies and secure work areas before beginning repairs.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment for each assignment.
- Place warning signs or barriers around wet floors and active maintenance areas.
- Ensure that tools, materials and debris do not create hazards for members or staff.
- Clean the work area thoroughly after completing repairs or installations.
- Report structural damage, electrical risks, mould, contamination or other hazards identified during plumbing work.
Record-Keeping and Coordination
- Maintain records of inspections, repairs, installations and materials used.
- Provide updates on identified faults, completed work and outstanding maintenance needs.
- Notify the Gym Manager when a problem requires specialist support, external contractors or major expenditure.
- Coordinate repair schedules to minimise disruption to members and gym operations.
- Support the monitoring of external plumbing contractors when required.
- Recommend practical improvements to plumbing systems and maintenance procedures.
Education and Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A recognised certificate, vocational qualification or trade-test certification in plumbing or a related field.
- At least two years of practical plumbing experience.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair common plumbing faults.
- Experience installing and maintaining pipes, toilets, sinks, showers, taps, valves and drainage systems.
- Knowledge of plumbing tools, materials, fittings and safe working practices.
- Basic record-keeping and communication skills.
- The physical ability to perform practical maintenance work, including lifting, bending, climbing and working in confined spaces where necessary.
Requirements
The following will be an added advantage:
- Experience maintaining plumbing systems in a gym, hotel, residential complex, commercial building or hospitality facility.
- Experience working with water tanks, pumps, heaters and pressure systems.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance beyond plumbing.
- Experience coordinating with suppliers, contractors and other maintenance technicians.
- Knowledge of water-conservation methods and efficient plumbing fixtures.
- A valid driving license.
