Head Mechanic
Summary
The Head Mechanic will be responsible for the repair, preventive maintenance, and servicing of all construction equipment, heavy machinery, and company vehicles (including light vehicles), ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and complex repairs, preventive maintenance, and servicing of construction equipment, heavy machinery, and company vehicles.
- Utilize strong diagnostic skills to identify and troubleshoot problems with equipment and vehicles, both in the workshop and on-site.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on-site, as required, to minimize downtime and ensure equipment is operational.
- Source and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring availability of critical components and controlling costs.
- Create and implement maintenance schedules to ensure equipment is properly serviced and downtime is minimized.
- Oversee and train junior mechanics, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work.
- Maintain high-quality work standards, adhering to safety protocols and company policies.
- Travel frequently to regional project sites to perform repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare and submit reports on equipment maintenance, repairs, and inventory management, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Work closely with the operations team to understand equipment requirements, minimize downtime, and optimize equipment performance.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical repair and preventive maintenance

Proven hands-on experience with excavators, graders, trucks, light vehicles, and other heavy construction equipment
