Summary

Financial Controller will oversee and manage the overall financial health and integrity of the company. The Financial Controller will be responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, tax planning, compliance, and guiding the company in maintaining sound financial practices. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong leadership skills, excellent financial acumen, and a thorough understanding of accounting standards, regulatory frameworks, and tax management in Tanzania.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Reporting

  • Prepare, monitor, and manage annual budgets in collaboration with department heads.
  • Generate timely and accurate financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial performance and prepare forecasts to support strategic decisions.
  • Ensure cost efficiency and recommend financial strategies for growth and sustainability.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance

  • Lead tax planning and management, ensuring full compliance with Tanzanian tax laws.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies including TRA, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Maintain compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and company policies.

Audit & Internal Controls

  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Develop and enforce strong internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of all financial records, ledgers, and reporting systems.

Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor finance department staff across all branches.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Guide team members in financial best practices and professional development.

Systems & Software

  • Oversee implementation and usage of accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Ensure the accuracy and security of financial data and system backups.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with the Managing Director and other department heads to support business strategy.
  • Support contract negotiations and provide financial insights on business opportunities.

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (master's degree or CPA/ACCA certification is an added advantage).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in financial management roles.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in accounting software such as Tally, QuickBooks, or ERP systems.
  • Excellent financial analysis and report writing skills.
  • Flexible and available to support operations beyond normal working hours when necessary.
