Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Chinese Translator to join our construction team based in Tanga. The successful candidate will play a critical role in facilitating effective communication between Chinese-speaking and English-speaking stakeholders on construction projects. This position requires accuracy, cultural awareness, and a strong understanding of construction-related terminology.

Responsibilities

• Translate spoken and written communication between Chinese and English accurately and professionally
• Provide on-site and office-based interpretation during meetings, site discussions, trainings, and inspections
• Translate technical documents, reports, drawings, contracts, emails, and other project-related materials
• Support project teams by ensuring clear communication between management, engineers, contractors, and workers
• Assist in coordinating daily activities between Chinese and local staff
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Support administrative and operational tasks related to translation and communication as required

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Chinese Language, Translation, Linguistics, or a related field
• Relevant certifications in Chinese language, translation, or interpretation are an added advantage
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese (Mandarin)
• Strong translation and interpretation skills with high attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of professional experience as a Chinese Translator or Interpreter
• Prior experience working in a construction company or related technical field is highly preferred
• Familiarity with construction terminology, processes, and site operations is an advantage
