Summary

The Technician: Airfield Maintenance is responsible for executing maintenance activities on airside infrastructure to ensure safe, compliant, and continuous operation of airport facilities. The role ensures effective preventive and corrective maintenance, routine inspections, repairs, safety compliance, and timely reporting of defects affecting airside operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on airside infrastructure in accordance with maintenance plans and procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of runways, taxiways, aprons, and related infrastructure to identify defects or maintenance needs.
  • Carry out repairs on aeronautical pavements, markings, drainage systems, and related civil works.
  • Use and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment required for airside maintenance activities.
  • Execute assigned work orders and maintenance tasks as per CMMS schedules and instructions.
  • Record maintenance activities, inspection results, and completed tasks accurately and on time.
  • Follow all airside safety procedures, regulations, and permit requirements during maintenance activities.
  • Identify defects, hazards, or non-compliance issues and report them to supervisors or engineers.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance requirements and support emergency repairs to ensure operational continuity.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of work areas and ensure proper handling of materials and equipment.

 

Education and Qualifications

  • Vocational training or certificate in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related field.
  • Training in airside safety or airport operations is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Swahili.
  • Proficiency in English is an added advantage.

 

Requirements

  • 2–5 years’ experience in civil maintenance, construction, or infrastructure maintenance.
  • Experience in airport airside maintenance or infrastructure projects is an added advantage.
