Reinstatement Assistant
Summary
This role functions as an assistant specializing in botany and habitat restoration to support biodiversity and environmental management activities within a large-scale infrastructure project. The Reinstatement Assistant will work with relevant project teams and external consultants to support reinstatement requirements in sections of natural and sensitive habitats as defined by biodiversity management and environmental action plans, on an as-needed basis.
The role involves evaluating habitat restoration activities carried out by contractors, such as topsoil replacement, erosion control, nursery establishment, and ecological monitoring requirements. This is to support the implementation of location-specific restoration plans executed in the field by biodiversity restoration contractors.
Responsibilities
Education and Qualifications
- Familiarity with IFC Performance Standards and related environmental and social frameworks
- Understanding of critical habitat assessments and associated management plans and systems supporting environmental compliance requirements
- Experience with environmental monitoring, biodiversity management, and ecological restoration systems
Requirements
- Diploma or graduate degree in botany, ecology, environmental science, or related field
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in botany, ecology, or conservation-related projects, including support to conservation initiatives
- Knowledge of and experience with reinstatement and habitat restoration requirements for large-scale infrastructure or development projects
