1. Who we are

KfW Development Bank (“KfW”) finances development projects in developing and emerging countries, mostly on behalf of the German Government. We are part of the publicly owned KfW Group, founded in 1948 and based in Germany, one of the largest bilateral promotional banks in the world. The staff members at our head office in Frankfurt, Germany and about 200 specialists in over 70 national offices cooperate with partner countries all over the world. Our goal is to support our partner countries in fighting poverty and accelerating sustainable economic development, maintaining peace and protecting both the environment and climate.

In Tanzania, we have been a long-standing partner to the Government of Tanzania, engaged in the priority areas of the Tanzanian-German Development Cooperation, amongst others in health, development sector and biodiversity as well as water supply and sanitation.
From our office in Dar es Salaam we also manage KfW’s portfolio with the East African Community (EAC). This portfolio focuses mainly on the sectors of sustainable economic development health and the protection of livelihoods.

     2. Whom we look for

KfW Office Dar es Salaam is looking for an ambitious, experienced and highly qualified expert for the position of a Portfolio Coordinator for development projects in the sectors of health & energy/ infrastructure for the bilateral portfolio with Tanzania and the EAC. Applications of mid-career professionals and women are particularly encouraged.
Our well-established health portfolio with Tanzania and the EAC focuses on support to strengthening health systems, improving access to quality healthcare and promoting health insurance. In addition, KfW currently seeks to establish new approaches (promotional loans) and grow the portfolio in the energy/ infrastructure sector.

You will be working in an international, diverse, and challenging environment and offered an attractive remuneration package. You will receive on-the-job training in Tanzania and join trainings held online and at our head office in Frankfurt.
It is envisaged that an employment period would start in December 2025.

• A strong academic track-record, demonstrated by a Master’s Degree from a reputed university with well above-average marks

• At least 5-7 years of relevant working experience, ideally related to the planning/implementation of projects in the area of health, energy/infrastructure and/or finance;

• Experience within development cooperation either in the Tanzanian Government, multilateral organizations and/or multilateral banks (such as World Bank, AfDB), NGOs and/or consulting sector/ banking sector;

• Experience with the EAC and project management is considered an asset;

• Demonstrate a pro-active, solution-oriented and positive work attitude;

• Very good analytical and problem-solving abilities, enabling you to break down complex tasks into concrete actions in order to meet tight deadlines;

• Above the average communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing as well as in intercultural settings and remote working environments;

• An excellent proficiency in English and Swahili, both orally and in writing, the knowledge of German will be considered an asset;

• Strong networking skills and the proven ability to keep track of deadlines and tasks;

• Strong negotiation skills, able to understand other stakeholders’ interest and to develop mutually-beneficial solution strategies;

• Open mindset and the ability and interest to acquire further knowledge in sectors that are relevant to KfW such as health & energy/ infrastructure;

• Ability to establish working relationships with higher-level government officials and representatives from other development partners;

• The ability to integrate into a culturally diverse, interdisciplinary team;

• Strong team player;

• The willingness to travel very regularly within the country, potentially in Eastern Africa, as well as to Germany as required.
