Mechanical Draftman
Summary
The holder of this position will ensure interpretation of engineering designs, specifications, and sketches to produce accurate and precise drawings (using AUTOCAD), and collaborate with engineers/ technicians to ensure designs meet requirements.
Design plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software
Work from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers and architects o Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for construction works
Responsibilities
- Assist in Design of LPG installation projects by establishing the installation specifications, drawings, bills of quantities, and scheduling the work to carry out the installation according to the required standards.
- Ensure proper interface with the installation / fabrication team. Ensure appropriate communication for the team to understand the content of drawing and the tasks to execute.
- Ensure proper preparation of production / installation, trough the specification and follow up of the procurement of required equipment, tools and consumables.
- Ensure the updating of technical documentation data base, by creating a proper structure of files, and by updating the documents as per the “as-built” state of the assets.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure that the technical targets on all the sites are fully reached.
- Assist to ensure that all Technical KPI’s are met.
- Ensure that the technical choice will be coherent with the maintenance program.
Safety
- Ensure that all installations comply with the Group and local authority safety standards by conducting safety inspections at the installations, ensuring that deviations from standards are rectified in a timely manner.
Environment
- Ensure adherence to the environmental requirements as set out by authorities like NEMC, EWURA and AOG standards at all OGTL installations.
Quality
- Ensure OGTL installations and procedures comply with the Quality standards set by ISO 9002, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001.
- Ensure installations are fit for purpose and meet stakeholders’ expectations.

Education and Qualifications
Knowledge and experience required for the job Education
- Education: Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical)
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years in the industry.

- Projects: Planning, Construction site supervision, Teamwork.
- HSSEQ: Basics on work site safety and works within hydrocarbon plants in general.
- Management & Leadership: Ability to manage and lead site team.
- Software: AutoCAD, MS Office tools and (MS Project – as added advantage)
- Ability to apply Engineering skills in Design, Work preparation & Materials estimate, Construction site supervision and Research for innovation.
