Deputy: Chief Technical Officer
Summary
The Deputy Chief Technical Officer is responsible for supporting the Chief Technical Officer in overseeing engineering operations, ensuring system reliability, and managing technical teams and projects to maintain efficient and continuous infrastructure operations.
Responsibilities
Support to Technical Strategy Execution: Support the CTO in implementing technical strategies, plans, and infrastructure initiatives.
Engineering Operations Oversight: Oversee daily engineering and maintenance operations across systems and facilities.
System Reliability and Performance Management: Ensure reliability, availability, and performance of critical systems including BMS, SCADA, AODB, and infrastructure systems
Technical Team Leadership and Coordination: Lead and coordinate engineering teams to ensure efficient service delivery and maintenance activities.
Project Oversight and Delivery Support: Oversee execution of technical projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, quality standards, and operational needs
Maintenance Planning and Execution Oversight: Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs are implemented effectively
Use of CMMS and Technical Systems: Oversee use of CMMS and related systems for maintenance tracking, reporting, and performance monitoring.
Coordination with Operations and IT Teams: Ensure alignment between engineering, IT, and airport operations for seamless system functionality.
Risk Management and Technical Issue Resolution: Identify technical risks and ensure timely resolution of system failures and infrastructure issues.
Compliance with Technical Standards and Regulations: Ensure engineering activities comply with safety, regulatory, and technical standards
Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor KPIs related to system uptime, maintenance performance, and technical operations
Delegated Authority Execution: Act on behalf of the CTO when required, ensuring continuity in technical leadership and decision-making.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field)
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field is an added advantage
- Professional engineering certification or project management certification (PMP) is an added advantage
Requirements
- 10–15 years’ experience in engineering, maintenance, or technical operations, including leadership roles
- Experience in airport infrastructure or large-scale technical environments is an added advantage
Characteristics
