Summary

Truck Driver ensures safe, timely, and efficient transportation of goods and materials to assigned destinations across the company's deports locations. This role is critical in upholding the company’s reputation by adhering to road regulations, demonstrating courteous behavior on the road, and ensuring compliance with company values. 

Responsibilities

Transportation Duties 

  • Safely transport goods and materials to designated destinations on time. 
  • Adhere to assigned routes, schedules, and delivery deadlines to support project needs. 

Vehicle Maintenance 

  • Conduct routine maintenance checks, including monitoring oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires. 
  • Perform minor repairs (e.g., replacing bulbs, tires) as needed.
  • Ensure all necessary vehicle inspections, services, and repairs are scheduled and completed in line with manufacturer recommendations. 

Vehicle Compliance 

  • Maintain up-to-date vehicle documentation in compliance with legal requirements and internal procedures.
  • Ensure vehicle registration, insurance, and any required permits are current. 

Logistical Support 

  • Execute logistical tasks to support project activities, including the delivery and pick-up of materials, correspondence, and other essential items.
  • Record all trips and deliveries accurately in the logbook, following the organization's procedures. 

Accident and Incident Reporting 

  • Report any accidents or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Follow necessary procedures for filing accident reports, insurance declarations, and coordinating repairs when needed.

Education and Qualifications

  • Secondary School Certificate (CSEE).
  • Advanced Driving Certificate from a recognized institution such as VETA or NIT
  • A valid Class E driving license

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience driving trucks.
  • Possession of a valid Class E driving license, held for at least 3 years.
  • Clean traffic record and familiarity with major roads across Tanzania. 

Characteristics

  • Basic skills in vehicle maintenance and repair; vocational training in auto maintenance and repair is an advantage.
