Summary

Purchasing Manager will be responsible for leading and executing the purchasing strategies. Tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness. Crafting negotiation strategies and closing deals with optimal terms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation

  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power

  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking

  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks

  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers

  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries

  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand

  • Effectively plan and manage procurement by collaborating with the Country Sales

    Manager, Scientific Nutritionist, Mill Manager and General Manager to forecast future demands of all manufactured goods in right quantities and formulations.

  • Comply with laws, regulations and food safety standards such as ISO, HACCP etc. as required by Tanzanian laws and company policies

  • Report immediately any potential or arising issues, problems, situations and provide proposals and solutions, including required resources (time, financial, human) to ameliorate the impact of such issues, problems of situations

Education and Qualifications

  • University degree from a recognized University in supply chain management, procurement logistics or business administration

  • Experience within other food production industries, including poultry and fish farming is beneficial

  • Professional qualification in dactylography; high degree of competency in use of the Microsoft suite of programs (i.e., MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Creative thinker who will bring new ideas and approaches to solve problems and seize opportunities.

Requirements

  • At leat five (5) years working experience as a purchasing manager in of organic raw materials and technical items

Characteristics

  • Deep experience in purchasing. Ideal candidates will have at least five (5) years of relevant experience in the purchasing of raw materials and technical items
    A knack for negotiation and networking and an ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures

  • A management expertise. Solid judgment along with decision making skills

  • A track record of operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have robust

    industry connections and relationships, regularly engage with regional and local partners, leaders and government official, and must have the capacity to engage a diverse range of people, organizations and challenges effectively;

  • An ability to communicate effectively. The Purchasing Manager must be able to communicate clearly with the General Manager, the Country Sales Manager and Mill Manager to share information in an accessible manner to optimize purchasing;
