The Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring that the inbound and outbound logistics and transportation of goods and raw materials are efficient and effective throughout the company and associated third parties

Duties and responsibilities details

• Develop a transportation strategy to ensure timely delivery of company products to the customers and raw materials to company plants.
• Scheduling of trucks based on sales forecast and service level requirement.
• Communicate with transporters on trucks requirement so that transport is available as and when needed.
• Establish a database of possible transport companies that can assist with the transportation of all company products whether to customers or to company Plants.
• Establish plant requirements/issues with regards to loading and offloading of all trucks
• Communicate plant requirements with regards to lashing equipment and vehicle configuration to all transport companies, loading and offloading at company Plants.
• Develop competencies within the team and build a diverse and effective team.
• Set KPIs for the team and continuously support, measure, and monitor performance throughout.
• Generate reports (inbound materials report, plasterboards dispatch, receipts reconciliation reports, OTIF report);
• Ensure a robust and reliable system to measure the performance on the customer service front and feedback to the customers for improvement (OTIF); and
• Ensure the availability of all materials and services in close cooperation with responsible Central Ordering Officers.
• Plan and coordinate all imports by air and Sea upon arrival in Tanzania
• Freight negotiations and compliance with Tanzania Shipping regulations
• Shipper coordination on freight and loading on Tanzania shipment Pre-check of all documentation, (BL Packing, List, COC)
• Manage the inbound loads and coordinate with production for accurate arrival times and space availability
• Managing and monitoring all daily dispatching duties
• Managing our delivery truck daily planning (scheduling) Coordinating with dispatch on FIFO or Override any Priority loading
• Coordinate all goods in transit with clients daily till trucks reach their destination
• Assure that all queries or inquiries are addressed with a matter of urgency
• Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in logistics/supply chain management, or similar

Requirements

3+ years of experience as a Supply chain officer or in a similar position.
