Summary

The role’s objectives are mainly on preparation and improving the quality of financial management and systems that support the Bank’s wide business objectives. Specifically, to support Senior Manager-Financial Reporting in executing his/her mandate of ensuring proper financial accounts are prepared accurately and on time; BOT returns are prepared accurately and on time. The role holder requires strong month end exposure including preparation of reports, bank reconciliation, variance analysis and journal production.

Responsibilities

Financial

  • Preparation of daily, monthly and year end management reports
  • Ensure all accounts are mapped to correct GL lines for accurate reporting for both management, statutory, regulatory and Business Units
  • Identify opportunities within the various units and channels for efficiency improvement.
  • Identify and effectively evaluate revenue and expense variances to budget and the reasons for the variances. To fully utilize the established management information systems properly and manage financial processes to proactively manage budgeted profit and margins of the business units.

Statutory and management Reporting

  • Prepare the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis reporting to the BOT as well as any other relevant statutory reporting
  • Collate and provide accurate information required by regulators, rating and lending agencies
  • Ensure maintenance of a proper and up to date inventory of all Fixed Assets of the Bank in an automated Fixed Assets Register.
  • Ensure that all the stages of Fixed Assets life cycle covering acquisition, depreciation, movement, revaluation and disposal are correctly recorded and accounted for.
  • Closure of internal audit issues with respect to project accounting and fixed assets and ensuring nil repeat findings
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintenance of the accurate and complete accounting records.
  • Production of internal and external financial and operational reports for use by the S&R Manager in preparing financial information for management and board consumption.

Liaison with the Bank’s DFIs

  • Assist in ensuring good relationship between the Bank and the DFIs; ensure timely submission of financial covenants to the Bank’s lenders if any; monthly carry out a review of covenants to establish compliance; Liaise with the DFIs in times of potential breaches to discuss possible resolutions
  • Provide financial reports to all the stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Continuous partnership with businesses for effective performance monitoring.

Learning and growth

  • Regularly review performance to trigger feedback and prompt actions to ensure objectives are met.
  • Set performance objectives for self in financial planning & reporting unit in accordance with the department’s overall objectives.
  • Training through E-learning, Internal & External training activities.
  • Be the service change agent across the Bank and work with HR to implement internal staff engagement activities to boost culture around service excellence.



Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Studies.
  • Fully qualified Certified Public or Chartered Accountant or similar qualification.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in an accounting or audit environment
  • Experience in Regulatory reporting and relationship management
  • Good interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good numerical skills
  • Good computer skills, especially MS Excel
  • Experience, awareness and appreciation of all aspects of balance sheet management in banking
  • Knowledge of New and Evolving Technology systems.
